Love a rainy day

I was going to answer some questions today, but the rain sidetracked me. Despite all the rain we have had lately, I am happy to see it again. I love the rain. I grew up where spring meant rain, and lots of it. Days of it at times. There were weeks when you thought that you would never see the sun again.


So, being me, I decided to see what I could find out about rain, besides the meteorological stuff that is.

I always thought that it was unusual that Aquarius was not a water sign (and something like a scorpion was). Maybe the literature got mixed up years back and we are doing it all wrong. When I was looking for mythological or metaphysical rain facts, I learned that the Greek god of rain was Hyas, a spirit (and the Greeks called them daimons) of the seasonal rains. He was said to be a man killed by a lion that the gods brought into the sky. He became the constellation Aquarius. Some will say Zeus is the god of rain since he rules the sky. Zeus is the ruler of the gods, and yes in the sky, but rain wasn't his specialty. For the Romans, Jupiter was the rain god. He was also a ruler of the sky.

In China,  Yinglong, a winged dragon,  is the god of rain. He is also known as "Responding Dragon". Yinglong flies through the sky bringing rain. He was also known to help control floods and channel waters, so a very friendly rain god.

The Aztecs had Tlaloc. They had other rain gods also, but he is the primary one. He is also the god of fertility. Many fertility gods have connotations that link them to things that make the crops grow and animals mate.

Among the Hopi, there is a storm kachina, and a sun kachina. Kachinas are small figures to represent messengers to the gods. Several tribes have them, all in the same area (lkike the Navajo and the Zuni). The messengers live in the San Francisco peaks near the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff. The kachina however that rules the rain is the deer or antelope (depending on your translation) kachina. The antelope dances to increase its' numbers, and to do that, it needs to bring rain, Rain brings food, food enough to support more antelope. The Hopi were amazingly ahead of their time, there are books out there about the Hopi ways and creation story, they are GREAT reading.

Eschetewuarha- The Great Spirit's wife and bringer of rain in the Chamacoco tribe of Southern Brazil. Many cultures have females (fertility again) as the rain bringers.

There are hundreds of rain deities. You can spend all a rainy day researching rain.

The metaphysical side also says that hunting ghosts is easier int he rain (as long as you are not out in it). Water is an excellent conductor of psychic energy, and may be why water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)  are seen as the most powerful psychics.  I have had some clearer EVPs on stormy or rainy days and nights, so there may be something to the rain/ghostly phenomenon connection. I have also heard many bathroom stories, and experienced them myself,  where toilets, showers , bath tubs and sinks and involved in ghostly phenomenon. All that water in one place. They love it.

Rain also washes our world, makes our plants grow, clears the air, spreads seeds, and gives animals and birds a drink and a bath. It is Mother Nature doing some cleansing.

So , when it rains, turn on your favorite lamp, and take out a book or laptop, and see what rain gods you can find.

Oh, and about thunder, my Grandfather said it was the angels bowling. Makes sense to me!

Getting set firmly on a path

Sometimes the path that you choose for yourself is not the path the Universe chose for you. When it is a change that takes you to an even "higher" place energetically , the Universe usually opens the path wide and dances down it with you.

When you try to walk a path that is not "yours". It is very difficult. It is filled with negativity, money loss, and troubles.

When you find a good path, walk it, take clues from the Universe. It brings abundance, even if it is a path that you would not think leads to riches. Suspend all preconceived notions of negative nature, and be open to messages.

Some folks think that when the try something and do not do well the first time, that they are supposed to quit. That is not necessarily so. If there is a catastrophic failure, that is one thing. However when small changes need to be made, simply make the changes. The other side of that coin is if you keep trying and keep failing, it is time to move on. Any venture,business, relationship, friendship, that does not improve or show some manner of success in 6 months, needs to be scrapped.

When you walk your path, set your feet firmly on it and walk it. Don't try to be what you are not, but don't try to be everything either. Pick your main course and set it . Set it and achieve it. Wandering in 10 different directions will confuse not only you, but the energy around you.

Many times the paths don't mix well, some things just won't . When that happens, think which one you are going to let go of.

While achieving all of this, make sure that you are doing the right thing for the right reasons. Don't get into spiritual work to make money. The path you are to take will call to you, just be still, quiet and open, it will show itself to you!

Watch for Scams

There are so many ways people try to scam you over the internet. Most of it is just done with an evil little laugh because they made you act like a fool...and some is downright dangerous and expensive.

Use your head, and if it smells funny, delete it. Never click on a link on an email that is unfamiliar to you, and NEVER click on a link to "update" your account information. Sites that need updates will send you an email telling you to go to the site, not directing you to it by a link.

There are a few lately that are dangerous and expensive:

Western Union needs you to click a link and update your info.  It is pretty easy to figure out this is a scam  if you don't have a WU account, but there is a link to go to, and it goes to the scammers private email.

A phone call saying your debit card has an issue, and asking for information on the card. Your bank will NEVER call and ask you your account number. They will also never ask your PIN.

You have inherited money! No you haven't.

Cash this check for me...this is done over the internet and in person. A person doesn't have a bank account and they need a large check cashed. The check is fraudulent. The person asks you to put it in your account, but they need money right now. So you give them money thinking the check will clear in 3 days...it never clears. The check is no good, and you are out the money.

You won a prize! But first you need to pay taxes and fees on it! No you didn't and no you don't.

When you get an email you know to be a scam , what is called phishing (fishing for information), then forward it to: 
phishing-report@us-cert.gov

They will shut the site down.

Then there is the "harmless", the "we made a fool out of you" ones.

They tell you how there are criminals in your neighborhood and how they will perpetuate crimes against you. If there is something going on as a scam in the area, you will hear about it on TV in the paper, or from neighbors, not by email from other countries, states and cities.

They will tell you how harmless things cause cancer, explode,  or in some way directly harm you. Again, these are false.

Many are now saying "verified on Snopes". Yet , when you go to Snopes, it isn't verified. Snopes does a lot of investigating, and if they say it is false, it is FALSE. People tend to go to the Snopes site , see the same email they just received and say "AH it must be true!".  NO, Snopes begins all entries with some form of the email that is making the rounds. When you scroll PAST the original email you will see a RED button that says FLASE, meaning totally false; a half green button meaning "Some truth" where there are facts in the email , but they are distorted; or on the rare occasion , green, meaning verified or true. When you read past that, you will see why it is false or true. You don't have to even think for yourself, Snopes will have done all the legwork for you!

Snopes search leaves much to be desired and sometimes it is hard to find the article, but take a few minutes and it will turn up. You can also use urbanlegends.com for researching things.

The other urban legend is that if you put a lot of email addresses in a "to" line your email is tracked. Not true.Onions aren't evil and able to kill you (although all old food will make you sick), and your cell phone will not explode against your face if it is charging when you are talking on it. Food does bubble up when you add certain things to it after taking it out of the microwave (because it instantly boils), but it won't explode and remove your face. Mr Rogers was not in the Special Forces or anything remotely like that.

Most of these silly email are meant to be a joke and to see how many people fall for it, and if it gets back to the sender after a period of time...and how long. It is cyberpace giving you onion flavored gum. A cheap prank.


Living in fear , or spreading fear, is a bad thing. NEVER pass on one of these email. I have clients afraid to go out of the house because of these email. That may give the creator of them a chuckle, but I find it seriously NOT funny.

Use the research tools that you have at your fingertips, there are so many authetic sites out there to help you see what is a scam and what is not. Meanwhile, NEVER share account info or PIN numbers. When a company says they have an issue, contact them directly via a number you have on the back of a credit card, or some other document, not by what is listed in am email.

Send any suspicious email to the government address listed above. Copy and paste it into your address book and use it ! It may keep some innocent and unsuspecting person from being scammed out of their life savings.

A life of true spirituality and faith is a life free of fear. Live that fear free life, but be safe but passing the "bad guys" on to people who are equipped to deal with them!
