The madness of it all.....and starting a ghost hunting group

I had a very timely email in my box this morning....a reader who is starting her own paranormal investigations group somewhere on the east coast, wanted to know what to do when clients are drunk, high or crazy, and does this even happen. Oh yeah, it happens WAY too often.

How do you know when it is emotional or substance abuse issues rather than ghosts? Well there are a lot of tell tale signs, and I will email the ones I know to her, but from growing up in a "not so nice neighborhood" , working in Las Vegas, and having a psych degree, I have a pretty good idea when these things are going on. Different drugs do different things, some hype people up, others slow them down. There are physical signs and there are smells, environment, and other things that make you realize there may be more going on than meets the IR camera.

The other side of this however is that negative entities are attracted to those with drug, alcohol and mental issues. Many times the person is drunk and seeing things, but the things are real, not alcohol induced. People who attract spirits this way however, are usually die hard drug addicts, alcoholics, and have severe mental issues where they are not usually in control of themselves or aware of their surroundings. They attract negative entities and the things that happen in the home are usually HUGE. Not a footstep or a door closing slowly, but rather things flying about the room and people getting hurt.

Investigate, but make sure you are not alone. Never go to a client's house alone. Not only because they may be dangerous from drugs, alcohol or mental illness, but they may be dangerous in many ways. You also want another person there in case something paranormal happens to witness and help.

When investigating, you will usually see signs of an addiction of some sort, but not always. People who are deep in their addictions don't try to hide them so much, and are pretty obvious.
Knowing your paranormal end of things helps too. When you know your stuff and people start to spout nonsense, you know something is off. It could be a new experience, but there really aren't any new experiences, just us being able to capture them now on film, and digital recordings. Be wary, have others you can talk to about it that have more expertise than you.

I remember once going into a house and saying there really wasn't anything there (now remember from earlier blogs that when I say this I mean haunting spirits, you always have a guide etc with you, and just having spirits pass through doesn't make your house haunted). I captured an EVP, but not a response to a question. A newbie laughed and said..."and after you said nothing was there". I said...Did you ever hear of residual hauntings??? Response: "oh". Know what you are doing, and know all the circumstances and signs. This ONLY will come through personal experience.

Know what you are doing, and know where you are. Ask the people questions up front and see what their experiences are and if they make sense. When you feel you are in a dangerous place, get out. Make sure that you reconnect with the client and let them know you won't be coming back. You don't have to tell them it was because they were drunk, high or crazy, but let them know.

Don't start a group just because you watch all the paranormal shows. They are still experimenting themselves, have equipment you will never own, a film crew, and a list of experts at their disposal. They have buildings all to themselves which you may or may not have, and they usually have experience with the paranormal. They also make mistakes, and assumptions they shouldn't.
Learn from an established person who has been doing this a long time and who can tell you of both real experiences, and ones they debunked. You want to learn from a person who doesn't see ghosts in every shadow, bump, and creak of a door.

The human factor will always be there and will always be the one that you have the least control over. Be wary, and when you have an experience that makes you think that all the spirits are in the person's mind, or bottle, then don't waste too much time. Hauntings do happen to drug addicts, alcoholics and crazy people, but you have to take all their personal experiences out of the mix, and if you have nothing left after that, you don't have a paranormal event.

Research some drug , alcohol and psychological reactions , and be knowledgeable. It is what separates the great groups, from the ones who don't have a shred of real evidence in their portfolio. It is a factor, especially in this day and age. Don't forget to consider it.

Don't try to start a group until you have years of experience, good people partnering with you, and the right equipment. People will be counting on your to help. You need to be able to help them honestly , and accurately. Make sure that you have people at your disposal who are experienced in things like cleansing homes, and specialize in areas, like Native American spirituality, or Exorcism. Make sure that you are handling the situation in a way that helps the client, not just gets you some good sound bites or shadows on tape! That is NOT what it is about.

And above all....be safe out there!

Your decisions are YOUR decisions

Everyday we need to make decisions. We have a choice available to us from the moment our feet hit the floor in the morning, til we rest our head somewhere at night. It starts with the choice of getting up at all, or when, or what time. Then all day long there are choices, until time to sleep, or not , or how long.

Where the problem comes in is when we feel we have no choice. We ALWAYS have a choice. The "problem" part is people get themselves into situations where they do not like any of the choices, so they feel there aren't any. Sometimes choices are limited, and that my friend, is called LIFE. You create your situation. Every day, every time. You got to where you are today by choices you made. Those choices may have been 5 years ago, or when you picked a college major, when you decided to get married and to who, or choices made 5 minutes ago. They all mold the place you are right now.

There are other people in your life, yes. They do effect your choices, but they do NOT control them. WHen they do control our choices, it was OUR choice to allow them to do so, we can take that control away at any moment!! We are not a solitary species by nature. We have to understand a few things, one is that we react and respond to people the way we choose to. The other person doesn't make us do anything. They can try, but that will usually backfire. People treat us the way we allow them to. We may be presented with choices we don't like, but there are still choices. Another aspect is that we may be responsible for others, like small children, or people with a disability that need our help. They effect our choices, but they in no way take choice away.

I have a person that I cut out of my life because every time I helped with a life drama moment, there was the response "I can't" to every option that I gave them. "I can't" was a lie, the truth was "I don't want to", or "that is difficult". Their life was a mess, and they made that mess, it was not easily solvable. You cannot clean up 10 years of making bad decisions in one moment or one decision, unless that decision is to do anything possible to get out of the mess. These messes usually take time and several decisions and difficult steps to resolve, not to mention never making the same mistakes again.

For example. What if over 5 years of maxing out the credit card, you lose your job. You lost your job do to choices you made about work and at work. You have trouble finding another job. Bill collectors are calling. Is this your boss' fault? The credit card company? The people who are interviewing you for a new position? No, the whole mess rests firmly in your lap, and the way of getting out of it will not be easy and will take a lot of time. We always have to "pay the piper", it is just the "when" that surprises us.

We cannot change people, at least not once they are grown up. When they have severe issues we can get them help and mitigate their actions, but when a person is afraid of something, all bets are off. When you know a person is a fear based person, limit their access to your life. They will ALWAYS have a reason why "they can't". They will never commit, they stand you up, they won't want to marry you, they won't want to venture outside their little comfort zone. Some are not as fearful, but still fear anything new or different and shy away from it.

People hide from all sorts of decisions to avoid confrontation, avoid discussion where they may have to carry part of the blame, or when they feel they won't be good at something. They fear opening their minds as they may learn something that they held as truth all of their lives was not true. There are so many reasons for it.

There are always options, Always. Not always your favorite options, but always options. When they all are terrible, it is because you managed to dig yourself into a hole. Now you have to dig out....not float out clean and happy, but do the hard work and DIG.

When you make a decision, NEVER blame another person for the results of YOUR decision. I have a client who told his GF to make a decision already and move in now, or get lost. I told him not to do that....he did it. She got lost. Now he wants to know how to get her back and is upset with her. He blames her. She is not the one to blame. I certainly can't fix it. When I say "whatever you do, don't do this", and people do it, there is nothing I can do to fix it. The girl is gone, forever in this scenario. When you make a decision to do something (or not do it), it is YOUR decision, and the results are YOUR results. When you give an ultimatum be prepared to do exactly what the ultimatum states, even if it DOESN'T go your way.

Make good decsions.
Remember they don't always turn out the way you hope.
Take the "I can't" out of your vocabulary, life is hard sometimes...

Put on your Big Girl (or Guy) panties and DEAL!

and while you are at it....do unto others.

A little advertising.....

Today's blog is just for the locals....I wanted to do a little advertising. Sorry!
These are two fun events , both benefit a good cause. I am involved in both and want them to get as much "free press" as possible.

First- Sept 15 & 16 in Rockport, IN, the Bluff City Pow Wow. We will be drumming at the pow wow with our drum, New Moon Drum. Host drum is Thunder With the Hands. The pow wow benefits the Christian Resource Center, a food pantry, so bring a canned food item with you. Admission is only $5. Bring a lawn chair to sit in, and enjoy the music, dancing, singing, food, and beautiful items for sale. There is also a raffle with some great prizes.

Learn about Native American traditions, and meet some wonderful people! Grand Entry is at noon on Saturday, and 1PM Sunday. Please email me if you have any questions.

AND>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

October 13 at 7PM, The Haunting at WNIN. This benefits Public Television. This is the annual convention for SIPI (Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators). We not only go to fun places that are haunted, like WNIN, but also help homeowners who are having issues. We investigate and cleanse if necessary.

The event is only $20 unless you want to do the overnight (and I think there are only 2 tickets left for that, so get them NOW), then it is $50 for the overnight (til 7 AM). The old Carpenter house is currently the WNIN offices and broadcast center. It is haunted. Guaranteed. I have investigated there twice and have had experiences, EVPs and saw a full apparition. There is food, raffle items, and guest speakers.
I will be speaking on EVPs and Matt , my husband on cleansings. There will also be speakers on the history of the building and area, poltergeist activity, and ghostly investigations. Come and learn, come and investigate!

These are two fun events that will be held locally. They are both inexpensive and wonderful learning experiences.  Please email me for more information on either event!

Drumming, wonderful energy

Drumming moves energy around. It can ramp you up, giving you energy, or calm you down. It can make you feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Yesterday I was again blessed to be able to drum with a group of awesome people. They all have dedication and determination to and for the drum. The energy that comes when there are seven people with good intent focusing on the drum , putting every ounce of energy into it, is AMAZING. We have all learned new songs together, and the drum has come together wonderfully.

It gives you goosebumps!

There are times when you have so much great energy flowing around that you can't believe how good it feels. The hooting and hollaring that goes on let's us know everyone is having a blast. The people are an important part of it all. It isn't just the drum, or the songs, but the people and their energy and attitude. Ramping up a song to where it comes from your toes...there just is nothing like it.

Drumming is done in many ways for many reasons. But no matter which you choose, it will move you in some way.

Yesterday was just plain incredible, for whatever reason, and I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication! You all rock!!

Remember your team, they are there for you!

When you are feeling like you are having trouble making decisions, or that you are alone, or that you are in unfamiliar territory, that your team is always there with you! Your team is large, but the most important energies are your main guide (we all have at least one), your angel or being that is connected directly to the highest power (and was never a human on this earth), and a protector.

Your guide is a person who lived on this earth, not associated with you in life in any way, that is there to help guide you through this life. Establishing a good connection with the guide keeps you from making big mistakes. They are what gives us that little voice that says things like "are you sure that is a good idea?

The angels are protectors yes, but their main job is to get you to stay on your path, they make life VERY uncomfortable when you try to roam off of it. They are very serious, and very powerful, and help correct things while teaching you a lesson.

Your protectors can be gatekeepers or totem animals, or both. They keep negative energy from entering in. Don't go looking for "evil" energy though, as the protector will then say "This is OK to let this in now". It will protect you, but not from that which you welcome in. Never play with the "dark side" of things. Protectors can be people, animals or beings that never lived on this earth, like dragons.

Some also have reiki guides, or guides that help them in special tasks in life. I have one main guide, one for readings, and one for reiki. I have more than one protector also. You can have more than one of them , although most people only have one.

There are many more on your team, but keep these beings in mind as they are ALWAYS behind you , ready to step in and advise or help. They never desert you, although there will be times that you can get yourself into a situation that you have to take the hard way out. They will not magically get you out as you are here to learn.

Remember your team. Talk to them everyday. They hear you!

Opening up to these beings enables you to learn, grow, and make good decisions.

Do you live a fear based life?

People who live fear based lives always make decisions based on what they think will be the safest decision for them. Fear skews that thought process to the point where they do not actually make the "safest" decision, and never make the best decision. This effects all parts of a person's life. The worst (and biggest), thing it does is keep them from having wonderful life experiences that many of us do have.

They do not have relationships (or at least fulfilling ones), because they are afraid to get hurt.

They don't go places that would be fun and interesting because they are afraid of what will happen.

They are afraid to try new things, and miss out on much, from food, to places, to experiences.

They frequently let others down as they rarely , if ever follow through on promises to do something or be somewhere.

They don't get to experience new cultures, people, geography, becasue they are afraid of some unknown "bad" thing happening.

They are afraid of getting emotionally hurt, ill, uncomfortable, lost, embarrassed, or a million other things. Their negative thinking not only limits them , but draws in more negative energy. They end up staying home, when others venture out.

When we stay all locked up and warm until the sun is up, the grass is green, and the weather is perfect, we miss much. We don't get to meet people we should meet, experience things we need to experience, and learn things we need to learn. We don't surround ourselves with positive energy. We limit the people around us to our issues and problems. They miss out too when they feel like they need to be at our side.

Many people venture outside the home without ever going anywhere new. Some go to the extreme of having email only relationships , and never meeting the person on the other end.

When you limit your exposure to anything, you limit your ability to deal with it properly. The best way to be resistant to germs isn't to lock yourself in your home, but to venture out and build up natural resistance. When you walk around afraid you are going to get sick....you get sick. This doesn't mean that you will never become ill, but it actually limits the times you will become ill, and the severity.

There was an experiment done in England quite a few years back. Mothers who let their kids play outside and get dirty; get bumps, scratches, and bruises, raised  kids that got sick less often than mothers who cleaned the kids hands with anti bacterial soup 5 times a day; did not allow their kid by other sneezing kids; and watched every morsel they put in their mouth. Kids are kids. We are a resilient species, but only because we have developed that resilience by being out in those germs.

Fire and ice won't destroy this planet in the end, germs will, and the germaphobes will be the first to go. People running for antibiotics at every sniffle , and doctor's who gave them, have paved the path for super-germs. There are viruses out there that could easily wipe us all off the planet thanks to those folks. We have to stop being so phobic about things.

It is OK to use certain products in certain situations, but when you use them all the time , so that there is never a germ within your home, you are a weakened organism ripe for infection.

Living a fear based life is actually more harmful than good. It may remove the immediate fear, but it sets you up for missing out, being less informed than you think, having no new experiences, and setting yourself up for a medical issue. It removes fulfilling relationship partners from your life, and stifles you.

NEVER make a decision based on fear. When you decide to do or not do something based on fear of something happening to you, you have made the wrong decision.....every time. Weigh all the pros and cons, and if the pros win, and you still do not want to do it because you are afraid, then you are making the WRONG decision. This applies to every part of life.

SO just for today........NO FEAR BASED DECISIONS.

Real talent vs imagination & psychic vs medium.

The need for articles like this come up more and more these days. The reason is something that I did see as purely good (an abundance of information and media on the metaphysical), but which is turning out to be "not so good". The are a few reasons for the "not so good", one being that not all the information out there is valid, and not all the "proof" that is out there is valid either. The other part which was originally "good", was that the stigma of the supernatural was removed. It was hard to tell people you are psychic or what you did for a living. You were labeled as crazy or evil. The stigma went away, but with it came another issue, crazy and "evil" people. Self perpetuating energy at its' best. What started out as a great change, has become a way to facilitate faking talents and attention for those with mental and emotional issues. There are other issues, but we will save them for another day.

First I want to be clear that when I say "evil" in this context, I mean the people who scam you, tell you that you have a black cloud over your head and it can be removed for $10,000 or a class to  teach you how to be able to survive 2012, for cost of $500- $1000.00.  It happened and it still happens. The part where there are people with issues involved in the metaphysical, has always been there, but now it has increased because the stigma is gone. They feel they will be more accepted now when they say "crazy things", and they are more vocal , and present.

I have written a few times on the difference between abilities and imagination or mental issues. I have also written on the difference between psychics and mediums. I get information on dead people, just like I do on live ones. I am a psychic and not a medium. A true medium is very rare, yet the fake ones are just oozing out of the woodwork these days. It used to be that it took quite a bit of searching to find a true medium, and that is STILL TRUE , although people who claim to be mediums are all over the place (FIVE people have introduced themselves to me as a medium over the past 2 months, NONE of them were mediums, and there were many before them). The popularity of ghost hunting has made mediums popular all over again. They feel it isn't good enough to be a psychic, they want to be a medium. They usually don't even know the difference or that psychics get just as much info, just in a very different manner.

Let's start with what a medium does. I first want to say that every authentic medium I have ever met is a person who is strong, independent, and has a VERY solid spiritual background. They are people who never seem to get angry, and who truly believe God's hand is in everything that happens. They are the people that you think are angels on earth, their actions speak louder than their words. Mediums directly communicate with the other side through a person who has passed. There are different types of mediums. Some read through symbolic information presented by the dead as they are near their vibration. Others speak directly to them and see them clearly as if they were speaking to a live person. Some allow the spirit to use their body, but remain in it and in total control.  They will be able to give you exact information like names, places and relationship to the living. They can communicate anything, just as if they were having a conversation over coffee in a restaurant. They can match the spirit's vibration and these folks are very rare indeed.

Psychics can also obtain information on the dead. They do it in a different manner that is indirect, but they can still do it. They read the person, their home, or their belongings just as they would a live person. They use the same techniques as when a person asks a question like "how does my husband feel about me?", on the dead.Psychic information is not limited to the here and now.

It is difficult for the dead to communicate. You don't get a big conversation from them, there are not a lot of words that pass to our side. Messages are short and important. The whole process rarely goes on for more than a few minutes. The medium can watch them interacting all night long if they want to, as they can easily peer into that other realm, yet is tiring. It is tiring to change your vibration to that high level, sort of like running on a treadmill instead of walking on this earth.

Mediums RARELY are psychics. It is two very different things. It is like assuming that a great snow skier will make an awesome water skier. They don't. They are two very different talents, and require different skills, and the use of different vibrations. You can't get your FM channels on your AM radio band. It is the same concept.

The dead are not psychic. They cannot pass on psychic information. They do sometimes have info you don't , and it can seem psychic. Let's say "Dead Aunt Martha" was at your sister's last check up when the doctor told her she was pregnant. Aunt Martha is thrilled and mentions it in a reading, although your sister hasn't told anyone yet. It seems like psychic information, but it is more like spying. A very cool kind of spying, but "Dead Aunt Martha" isn't psychic, she is just present (although you can't see her).

Either talent has become popular, and many folks spew out things that they think make them look like psychics or mediums. Until you are facing a dead relative or a homeowner, it is easy to talk about ghosts and what they supposedly say. Some people make it all up, all for attention. Want to test them? Ask a medium to tell you who is around you , their name, and what they are there to say. There are ways the dead give us information to let us know it really is them.

There are many (too many), people in the world today who fake psychic and mediumistic ability. There are even more who have issues mentally and emotionally that "believe" they have these abilities, and do not. If you have read my past blogs you know that many things, like brain tumors, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder (to name just a few), can make people think they are or can present themselves as a psychic/medium. There are BIG red flags that psychoanalysts recognize as medical or psychological issues and not true ability, and there is also the fact that psychics and mediums can ALWAYS recognize another psychic or medium. There is a very easy way to do so, and I won't describe it here so no one decides to use it dishonestly. People who are not psychics or mediums could not use it , so it won't come in handy.

I have never claimed to be a medium, yet I can say that I have seen (and heard quite clearly) dead people, one of which was strong enough to ask for my help, and scared the crap out of me (as I was waking up "alone" in my home at 2 AM). I don't know who scared the other one more. Having that experience does NOT make me a medium. There are times when a dead person can come to call. A dead relative can come to say good bye, and you can see and hear them, but that doesn't make you a medium. I have seen a couple of apparitions in my life, that doesn't make me a medium. Mediums are a whole other energy. Seeing the spirits in the night, makes for a strong or determined spirit (or one who hit on the method of communication between dimensions by accident). Stuff happens. Make sure that you are not involving yourself with people who either pretend to be gifted, or imagine themselves to be. I am not sure which one is more dangerous. When the person seems a little "off" or "crazy" to begin with, they are absolutely NOT psychic or a medium. The Universe does not use people with mental issues as a channel as the messages would always be "off" after being processed through a brain that is not functioning properly. The Universe won't communicate through a filter that isn't filtering properly!

With the popularity of ghost hunting came the people who want to be the star of the investigation. The ones who have lives that are messed up, lack friends or have few friends. This is a great way for them to get attention, and it is totally WRONG. It is as bad as pretending to be a priest in my estimation. Information from the Highest Power is sacred, and not something to be played at or used to get attention. The emotionally and mentally ill don't know any better, they think it is real, so it is hard to blame them, but do not encourage them. Encourage them to get help, rather than "play psychic".

Find the right person for the job when you need the services of those who connect with the other side. Just like you wouldn't call a plumber to fix your electrical issues; nor a doctor who never went to med school; nor an insane person for any serious matter, make sure that you have a valid person who has the talents you need, and who is easy to work with. There are many truly talented people out there. I have met and taught many over my 40 plus years of delving in the metaphysical. I learned the hard way before there was a plethora of books, and WAY before there were TV shows on ghost hunting. When you really do truly love the metaphysical there are many ways to participate without faking talents, or scamming people. There is a little thing called KARAMA that will get you if you do. Use your time and energy to make positive results, not negative or fake results.

Meanwhile, let people who know what they are doing help you, and even if they claim to spot a demon behind every piece of furniture, then they are the ones to also run from. Real life metaphysical is NOT dramatic, it is quiet. The right kind of people to work with do not seek attention, but seek to help.

Know what you need, and have references.

Be smart about the metaphysical.

Helping with issues from the other side

I had an email last night (which I just saw this morning). The author wanted to know what we charge for cleansing homes. WE DON'T. The group I am involved with locally for doing investigations doesn't charge either. This is about helping people. The email was written to say something along the lines of, "you talk about help but what do those cleansings cost?". They cost nothing. Zero. Zilch. They are free.

Is there a catch? Sure, your house has to be investigated first. We can't run all over Indiana and Kentucky cleansing homes that do not need to be cleansed, just becasue folks have watched too many episodes of Paranormal Witness or popped that copy of Poltergeist into the VCR last night. When people need help, we help, and others do too. For free. Many groups investigate, for free. This is the way it is. The psychic part of the investigation is free, the cleansing part is free, the recordings, photos and video, are FREE.

I don't do readings for free because consultants, life coaches and therapists get paid, and I do need to eat and light the lights. Yet when people have an issue where there quality of life is disturbed by something from the other side, we help. We ask that people do not take advantage . We have never had to return on a cleansing except when clients asked us to leave a certain entity alone, they then asked for us to return and remove it, and it was removed. We won't however, keep coming back and cleansing your house if you keep inviting stuff in. Some folks just have a bad habit of doing things that invite these problems in.

Many times people will assist for free. I work as a psychic on investigations free....but I won't tell you when your ex is going to call while I am doing it. There is help, and then there is curiosity. There is a big difference from having a nasty spirit in your house and wanting a husband.

So in response to the query from this person, I do this, plus I just volunteered to be a docent for the raptor program at a local park (sounds glamorous til you have to cut up dead mice). I donate frequently to the local food bank, and various raptor programs around the country, and the Audubon Society. I give when I can to people I know who are having serious health issues, one with their child. I don't brag about what I do, I wrote this as an example for those who want to know if I walk the talk from yesterday....I sure do.

The kicker here is that people , whom I have never met, want free psychic information and try to convince me that psychics shouldn't charge for it.  I charge $35 for a half hour, and that is a lot less than a lot of other people charge. But it is all I do, and all many psychics do. When you come upon a scammer who tells you that you need to pay $10,000 to remove a dark cloud, run from her, but don't paint the rest of us with that paintbrush. I don't live in a mansion, but I pay the bills, and had done so alone without a problem for years. I am now married and split the bills evenly.

Life is about helping, not enabling. Life is about doing the right thing, not what someone wants you to do for their benefit only. Life is about strength, honesty, and courage. Life is about learning, growing, and treating others as you would like to be treated.

Do as much as you can for others, humbly, without doing it for something in return. Pay things forward, and walk your talk....then the abundance flows. Remember, abundance does not equate with purely money. When you think that is abundance, you will never have it.

Do the right things for the right reasons.

Helping is an energy wave......Just do it!

Whenever we help others, especially when we do it for no thanks or recognition, we create a pure and wonderful wave of energy that is stronger than anything in this universe. There are many out there who need some serious help these days. I know so many people with serious illnesses that cannot get health care because they were dropped by their insurance companies. That is what happens when you get to be too expensive for insurance companies tastes. Being that we are a Capitalistic country, we can't make them insure everyone, so we have to step up and help.

There are always car washes, rummage sales and the like when people need medical attention. I know some folks who need such serious help, that a car wash and a rummage sale isn't going to help for a moment. Luckily there are organizations in this country that help, but they can't do it all.

We can help by giving money , or just by sitting with a sick child so Mom and Dad get a break. We can help by paying someone's rent for a month, or sending new clothes or a blanket for the kids. We can drive someone to an appointment, make a meal, hand over books we have already read, or do the food shopping. We can make a phone call and ask what is needed and then provide what we can.

I heard a wonderful story the other day when I was picking up my prescriptions. A man was signing up for a shingles vaccine shot. The lady who was processing the payment was telling him that there was an older lady in the other day who needed a shot.  She had no insurance, and the shot she needed was $85.00. She was almost in tears, and was trying to decide if she could wait a week or so. A person behind her said, "excuse me", walked up and paid for her shot and left. This person probably didn't want recognition, and just strolled out of the store. There are such "angels" or "knights in shining armor" out there. When you can, be one of them.

That is how it is done!

There are many in need, and there are many who create need by being wasteful, but when people need medicine, food, and physical assistance we need to just do it, and move along. There are children who need help who have some of the worst parents on earth, but we still have to help those children, not disregard them because Mom and Dad are wasteful. There are people of other lifestyles and religions out there. Treat them as you would your own family.

This is 2012, believe me , the Universe is watching carefully, and when you in any way send hurtful energy to anyone ,or refuse to help,  the Universe takes note, now more than ever. The energy that is created by doing good for others without looking for a return,  is unstoppable , powerful,  and full of white light and love. Help a person, help an animal, any living thing.

All of you Reiki practitioners out there....when you see an accident, hear sirens, or see a resue helicopter fly over head, send reiki to the first responders also. Help them arrive quickly, safely, and act and think clearly. Every little bit helps. First responders sacrifice themselves every day in some way, be appreciative, actively appreciative. Shake the hand of a man or woman in uniform, it will make their day!

When I hear "me me me", it saddens me. We are a world community. People need help, and if your help, money, or time saves their life, it is more than worth it , and paid back in ways you cannot imagine. Truly spiritual people don't put anything of their own ahead of another person's health and safety.

There are many out there that you know who need help. Help.

Tarot Readings...how they work

Tarot cards are excellent indicators. I wouldn't call them predictors, but that isn't really what they are supposed to do. They are connectors to archetypes that show what will happen if you stay on a path, and what is the best path to take. That is a little different, it is a guidebook. They are guides to better results. They are lists of pros and cons, and tell of people's personalities, views, and perceptions, their paths, and responses. We can manipulate them to tell us other things, but this is what they do naturally and do best.

They always connect, it has nothing to do with the reader, they key is to be able to interpret the cards well in relation to the situation. That is why the best tarot reading is one where specific questions are asked. The Universe is also very literal, and very exact. It tells us the best way to go, and what it will be like. The answers are not always what the querant will want to hear, but the blunt, honest answer of the Universe. It is very important to be honest in your question, as the interpreter / reader will misinterpret the answer when you present the situation as different than it really is. The querant may want to find out about how to better go about getting their rock band on TV, and the cards may be saying "you will make more money selling real estate, that is the path you are supposed to be on". Being a rock star would be much more fun, buy maybe it just won't work for you in the long run.

Tarot cards are naturally a link to your higher self and the collective unconscious. That is the door that they open. They do not connect to another person, or the devil (the cards were once called the Devil's handbook), they just connect to that information that is always flowing out there. They are made to do a specific job, and if you stick with that and trust them, you will have a more abundant, fulfilling and happy life.

I have looked at my cards for myself in the past and thought...."that can't be!"...but it was, and has been. The cards are a two way street. The querant has to be actively , and seriously seeking an answer, and specific questions are best. The reason for that is that we are dealing in archetypes (symbols), and that we have to decide what those symbols mean in that particular situation. Some cards have several meanings, and the meaning is effected by cards around it, and of course by the question. Some readers even have a particular meaning that goes with a card. When a particular reader sees a card it means something to her, that it may not mean to any other reader (this is why reading cards while the reader is, is not a smart thing to do).

The very important flip side to that, is that by changing your actions, you can change your reading, your life, and your success. Tarot puts much into your own hands.

Readers have different cards, layouts and systems that they find best to use in certain situations. I have several decks (OK I have many), and find that even though some very old and traditional decks work all the time, you can get deeper into readings for certain people by introducing another deck part way through the reading. There are decks, like the Goddess deck that works well with certain women, or Thoth that works good for people in darkness of some sort.

Tarot reading , and even readings in general, and not all done the same way. There are MANY ways, styles, and systems that readers use and have found best over the years , to get to the answers. Readers know how they get the answers best. Don't expect to see a Celtic Cross laid out every time you go for a reading, as a matter of fact, you will rarely see it, except in books. Don't ask the reader to put down more cards because you don't like the answer.  Sometimes 5 little cards say volumes!

The cards get your answer, and show the reader the answer. The reader then interprets it, and passes it on. General questions get general answers. The answer doesn't change , but may have to be reworded, for example if you ask about what to do to help your career. I see indications of better things, more money, and this results from education. I say , take a class or go back to school, and you will get a promotion. Then the querant says, Oh, that is wrong, I work for myself. It isn't wrong, the answer has to be reworded. The answer is now that you need to educated yourself more about the business you are in and that there is more profit coming to you after you do that.

Tarot cards are symbols, they work through symbols, and readers interpret them, it is that simple. They always connect as they are of a higher power. They are excellent for people who are ready to take their life into another chapter, and be ready for change, and growth. Those who want to be stagnant, and not accept change will not like the tarot. When it says "you need to change", then you really need to change paths.

Tarot is just one tool. No tool in and of itself is evil, or bad. However, never use a Ouiji Board. The board is not evil, but it opens a floodgate, and unless you are a very powerful medium and can see all that is flooding in, recognize it , sort it, and stop what you need to, you have no business using a Ouiji Board. It is not evil in and of itself, but bad things can come through that wide open door. Do not play with the metaphysical unless you are VERY experienced and trained. Having a deck of tarot cards will not bring evil into your home. Be careful reading for yourself however, as you will doubt answers that are emotionally charged. Always have another person do those readings for you.

You can use a "card a day" type reading to give you guidance, or a "what shall I do next"? type of question. They are informative. It helps you have a leg up on things when you know what the best thing is to do that day. The message may be that no matter what goes on to be still, and let it flow around you, or it may be to act, and be strong.

Many readers collect old decks as antiques and works of art. There is a set of books on the tarot by Stuart R. Kaplan, it is expensive and some of the earlier volumes are hard to find these days, but it is an excellent encyclopedia of the tarot with pictures, history, and insight.

When you are ready for real answers, try the tarot!
(I do periodically give tarot reading classes locally, check my webpage for more information)

Try giving positive responses......

This is a complaint I hear often, people are ready to criticize but rarely ready to praise.

Unfortunately it is very true. When I was in the "workaday" world, I made sure that I praised my employees. When they did well, they knew it. Even when they gave it their all, and missed the mark, they got kudos for trying. My employees loved me.

Many times bosses, family and even friends forget to say good things. Everyone however is eager to jump in and let you know when you messed up.

I will let you know either way. Yesterday I had a client hear something she didn't want to. She had talked to me seven times. She acted like she had never spoken to me before. On those seven prior occasions, she couldn't find a moment in her busy life to leave positive feedback, but on the one day she didn't like the message, she was quick to leave a slam on my feedback page.I called her out on it.

I wrote her a note about it (I really DO walk my talk), and told her that she HAD spoken to me before, and that on all those occasions she didn't find the moment to be nice, but when she was having a bad day, SLAM (I also have to mention I am not the only person she has slammed, so it wasn't just a bad day for her). I told her that costs us a fortune in business when people do that, and if she is going top be so ready to slam, be so ready to be nice. I told her to not call me again, wished her well, blocked her, and moved on. ( I usually tell people why I am blocking them instead of leaving them hanging).

At the end of the day I get a second slam on one of those older calls. TALK ABOUT SOMEONE NOT GETTING IT. She wrote a rambling diatribe that seriously makes no sense. Probably feeling angry, from guilt, and again doing exactly what she had that morning. It was a diatribe of striking out negatively,  lying in her feedback, and carrying on like crazy. It is pages back in my feedback and looks like a rant of an angry person, which is just what it is, so I am really not concerned, but I am concerned that this person will go through life not praising, but when her feelings are hurt, overreacting and treating people like garbage. Lying, negative retribution and anger fueled revenge are the perfect recipe for KARMA.

I would think I shouldn't have to remind people not to act in such a hateful , vengeful manner. I think we were all taught that in Kindergarten, but PLEASE, because there are people like this is the world, and we all have days when we are trying hard and tired, and not feeling well...PRAISE people. Even if it is just a "I love that shirt on you!" Praise is what everyone needs. We are social animals and need to know we are doing OK.

I have shied away from adults that I know who have hateful crap come out of their mouths. When they put down any group from gays, to a culture, to a religion, I will have nothing to do with them. You can't teach them, but you can teach and encourage younger people.

Interact with people, talk to people, and learn that no matter what, the Big K is always hiding just around the corner.

Praise before degrading.

Orbs

I get so many orb questions form day to day, if they were all orbs, we would be being invavded. I was trying to figure out why people get so excited about orbs, when serious investigation teams do not. Now, let me clarify that, REAL orbs do get attention, and rightfully so, but the majority of what shows up in pictures isn't an orb. Then since orbs really don't tell us anything, real investigators say "cool", and move on. So what gives?

I think the excitement of supposedly catching something paranormal without even trying is fun to some folks. They are interested in the paranormal, but not enough to tromp around in dark, dangerous places after midnight when one should be comfortably snuggled in their bed. I get it, trust me, there are times when I have said, "What am I doing here?". I have been in homes that are scarier than their ghostly inhabitants. The worst affliction lately seems to be bug bites. Investigating the paranormal is not glamorous, I can tell you that.

The "orbs" that people "catch" are usually water vapor, dust, lens reflection (or any reflection actually), pollen or bugs. Those little see through thingys that you get on your camera are not orbs.

Orbs do certain things that make them identifyable, the most notable is that they give off their own light. I have pictures of blue, red, and green orbs. They have color, and are usually smaller rather than larger. They move almost constantly, so you should see a tail or trail of movement in your picture, just like a comet. They don't have to be moving all the time, but taking pictures in rapid successtion, and then having an orb disappear after picture one or two is also a good indicator. They don't float, or follow air flow. They can do a u-turn or take off at a 90 degree angle in an instant.

The shape and thickness is also important. Orbs are "solid". Flash cameras can make them appear solid, especially pollen, and water vapor "orbs". Don't even bother to look for orbs at places like caves, shore areas, swamps. They will appear all over the place. Don't look in dusty buildings (that is hard when investigating sometimes). Don't look for orbs in the rain. Don't look for them anyplace dank, damp, or wet. Don't look for orbs when the pollen count is high, or air quality low. Are you getting the picture about how much can interfere with actual orb sightings? That is why most investigators don't get excited over orbs or even look for them.

I have a series of pictures that looked like thousands of orbs, then a mist, then was gone, all in about 20 seconds. I probably won't ever know what it was. It may have been simply warm and cool air meeting. It was outside at night.

The digital cameras are awesome for taking orb pictures, but beware, the way the older cameras are constructed will actually make orbs appear where they are not, there are two pieces of glass inside and any light source can reflect back. Newer cameras do not have that construction.  When you take a picture and think you see an orb, take an immediate second pic without the flash. Learn and know how to turn off your flash so that you can do it quickly.

I have heard people say "it looks like a face" in the orb. Orbs do not have faces, or any other human features. At all. Your imagination can matrix you into seeing a face, and some faces can even look quite like the photographer taking the picture, because they are reflections in water droplets. Orbs do not have faces, or any other imprint on them. They are just energy, like a tiny ball of lightning.

We have yet to figure out exactly what they are. Theories abound, and some say they are souls who have learned a fast way to travel by shedding their "human life" image. I think this is a good theory. The other part of this is that they are traveling through our dimension. This is important becasue it means if they are just "passing through" they may have nothing at all to do with the activity in the place. The activity maybe just made them more visible!  Others say they are vehicles for a large amount of souls to be transported quickly, a little metaphysical airbus so to speak. They are not angels, or anything of that kind. Angels have their own unique look, and it is nothing like you see on your Bible paintings pages, nor a round glowing ball. Nature spirits can appear as small lights, but they look very unlike orbs, and move in their own unique way.

Orbs give off their own light, that is why you should try taking a picture without a light source. No flash, no light coming in a window...nothing. You should see the orb light shining on objects, just like a candle or flashlight would.

When looking for evidence, the least reliable and informative are orbs. We don't even know if all real orbs are paranormal! They do not communicate or interact with humans. Look for other evidence of the paranormal. When you catch a real orb, it may help us understand what they are and how they operate, but do not use them as a standard.

It is fun to get excited over orbs, but they are nothing 99% of the time. There are a lot of easy ways to catch paranormal activity, try one of those instead (and I will say it again, NOT in your own home).

Runes

I recently started to do rune readings through my online service. Many have no idea what runes are. Runes are not predictors. They are answers. When you have an issue and need direction on how to approach solving it the runes are the answer.

They won't tell you when your ex will call, or what color hair the next man in your life will have, but they tell you how to solves issues and what the crux of the problem is. Runes are for times when you want to know if you should stand still or be active, if you need to work on yourself, or find new people to be around.

I use the Viking runes. They are a set of 25 stones that are cast in 3 or 5 stone readings to get answers on what and when is the best thing to do. The runes instruct you as to what to do. They do not say what others will do, or predict your own behavior (only you can do that well as your free will is most powerful in your own life). It tells you what the best thing to do is.

Runes are for people who want to make life changes and get better results. They are not for people who want to be told they are already fine, life is good, and all is well. There are loads of affirmations for that. These are for people who seriously want to make the right decisions and take the right action for the best result . The important thing is to understand what that means, it means you may NOT get your way. What you want may not be what is best for you, or the direction you should go in. The runes pull no punches and will flat out tell you what you need to do, like it or not.

The runes are old, older than Christianity, and the most recent widespread use was in Iceland. They are ancient tools, used by wise people who wanted to always do what the Universe thought was best for them, and those are the type of people who benefit from the runes!

Class Time again!

I don't know which I like better....teaching or learning. They both really and truly excite me. I am the kid that liked going to school, and I still do. I took on the task of earning a masters and doctorate years after graduating Montclair State College (now Montclair State University). I have taken metaphysical classes from Astrology to Reiki. I became an ordained minister by actually going through a course, not by just submitting my name to a website. I have learned from many teachers and masters. I have had tons of personal experience living in two haunted houses, and working with people for years and years. I have taught reiki, tarot reading, Universal law, and psychic development. Now I am going to have a class on what I have the most personal experience in, those on the other side.

When looking at class notes for the psychic development class, I realized that much of it was good information for those who wanted to "ghost hunt" (I always thought that was a funny term, you don't hunt them, and many times they hunt YOU). People think that there are only dead spirits in hauntings (not true), that there are only one or two things on the other side like angels and demons (not true), and that things like black shadow people are total evil (not true again). It would help if people who were "ghost hunters" really understood what they are hunting! I know that Jason Hawes is a reiki master and has studied and read deep into the other side, so he gets it, but then there are popular groups out there with TV shows who really don't have a clue.

I recently added a new class to the lineup, "Things that go bump", and it will help people understand haunted places better and have a better handle on how to help people. It should be fun, entertaining, and informative.

When you see a new class out there, ask about what it is all about , and then if it resonates with you, or you think it sounds realistic, take it. Be wary of crazy classes out there that are offered, or even classes for things you DON'T need a class in. Make sure you have accredited (when applicable), and experienced teachers. Don't be a class junkie, stick with what really interests you. Don't pay a ton of money for a class, there really isn't anything worth more than $100 for a weekend (2 days of class time). Read up on it a bit before the class so you can ask intelligent questions, and get deep into the subject. It also helps to know if the class is a good one. I recently had a friend take a reiki class and she didn't learn the basic hand positions....that is like learning to read without knowing the alphabet.

There are MANY New Age charlatans out there. Make sure that you are never asked for more at the end of the class...more money, more things to donate to the teacher, nothing. Make sure they are authentic. Ask, then check them out. When you feel a little uncomfortable, don't do it. Trust your gut, it is the first lesson is Psychic Development!

Have fun and learn, it is a wonderful way to grow!

NA women weren't drudges

The other day I picked up a book that I bought while on vacation almost two years ago. I have many books, and buy ones just about everywhere I go. I think I keep Amazon.com in business, and love the convenience of being able to look at books not always readily available locally, and have them delivered to my doorstep. I can look through them, and read reviews from others , which is VERY helpful.

The reason I picked up this particular book is that it was about King Phillip's War. The war is a glossed over part of American history, but was the first major conflict between the new tenants (the Europeans), and the Pequot tribe. I am a Pequot, among other things. The Pequot were held by the Narragansett as prisoners for the British, so there is a mix in my blood. Many of the local tribes there intermixed...but I digress.

The book began by saying things that I know not to be true. There was a Puritan man named Roger Williams who lived near the Narragansetts and spent much time with them learning their ways and customs. He learned their language, and was the first to write it down. He was not liked well by the Europeans, because he would tell them how they needed to be more like the "Indians of the region". One of the things he mentioned was how surprisingly clean they were. How neat their villages, and how they used whatever they had to accent their clothing and hair.

The book I had picked up remarked on how dirty the Natives were and how they disgusted people in their initial meetings because of it. The author was speaking about Algonquin tribes and the only thing he got right was that some of them had haircuts we now call "Mohawks". They were not dirty, nor disgusting, if they were, the Puritans must have been filthy for Roger Williams to tell them they needed to be clean like the Narragansetts.

The book went on to say how the men basically laid around all day unless they were hunting, and that they weren't very good hunters. Not only were they good hunters, but the Europeans were amazed at how strong and healthy they were. They weren't obese, but lean and trim, strong and fast. They had deer, and other animals, fish, and many plant varieties available to them. They were the inventor's of succotash (another Narragansett word).

The second part of that was that the women were the drudges and did all the work. The women did a lot of the work, but so did the men, the work was divided pretty evenly. The women in these societies were not drudges, but quite the opposite.

The women were the bloodline. It was a matriarchal society. The held ownership of camp areas, and goods. The ran the household yes, but they also were in a society that didn't view women as having a minor role at all. The women were allowed to be sachems (Tribal leaders), and led war parties. They did everything the men did, even hunted from time to time. There were absolutely no limits to their roles. The cooked, hunted, drummed, and led the tribes. Not very "drudgelike" at all. This doesn't mean they didn't do the housework so to speak, but they were not restricted to traditional female roles by the tribes.

Women sachems or squaw sachems (squaw is NOT a derogatory word, it is an Algonquin word for a women of certain age) were able to pass leadership through them, but leadership could not be passed through the male bloodline, like father to son.

I follow my lineage as closely as I can, there are missing pieces, and the way to the answers for me is going to require a trip to RI, and CT. That will happen someday as I want to pass that information down to my daughter. My mother used to joke when I was angry that I must have been a descendant of The Saunk squaw Quiapin (you will find her name spelled many ways), who was a war leader in King Phillip's War.Maybe I am....I doubt I would be that lucky, but I do have the sachem/war leader attitude, I will admit.

There was also the Squaw Sachem Wetamoo who ran the largest Pocasset village Mattapoiset. It was the main center of the Pocasset tribe. Awashonks was another female leader, she was of the Sakonnet tribe in Rhode island. The Narragansetts, Pequots, Sakonnets and Pocassets, were all part of the Algonquin tribes (New England) area. There were even more female leaders of these tribes, and others in the area, including a brother and sister team.

There were women and war leaders in areas outside the New England area, and today there are opportunities for female tribal leaders all over the US. Women were never given a "lower class" standard in Native American life.

The book did mention Quiapin but right after the sentence on women being "drudges". As the book went on with more misinformation, I did something I have never done to a book before in my life. I dumped it in the trash. How could I possibly trust this man's interpretation of the Pequot War (King Phillip's War), when he didn't even understand basic tribal structure.

There is enough misinformation out there today. People think women cannot take certain roles in NA society, or that "squaw" was a bad word (it was used as a derogatory word by the French, and is still seen as such, but it is an Algonquin word that simply means young woman).  We need good references out there, and information that is not tainted by a man who is in no way Native, not apparently a student of the Algonquin people. All he had to do was read some papers from the 1600 and 1700's to know that. There is much historic paperwork FULL of firsthand knowledge.

Be wary of books. Make sure that you are getting good information from reliable sources when you are reading non fiction. The New Age counter especially, is full of books that are full of something else too. It is a ripe field already covered in manure.

We have to be so wary these days of the information passed to us. Please also remember that tribal differences were great, and no tribe is right or wrong. Never say something is "Native American", say it is "Navajo", or "Cherokee" because what was a rule in South Carolina, may have been completely opposite in Maine. No one tribe's way is right or wrong, it is just what it is.
The females of the Algonquin nation are proud of the roles of their female leaders in war and in peacetime. Do not degrade them to the female roles of other tribes or cultures.

Read GOOD books!

Depending on others, can we?

We hope that in this life people can be depended upon. That when people say they are going to do something, that they do it. Most of us tend to keep those types of people around us, so it is easy to do most of the time.

Then there are the times when we make plans, or try to accomplish something and the person who we are doing that for, somehow jerks the rug out from under us. It happens, and when it does, the first thing you need to do, is say "this won't happen again". Life is too short to waste on people who are ill prepared, not of their word, or change their minds midstream without giving you a clue this may happen. When people go back on their word, never trust them again.

I am a very generous person. I don't have much to give, but I always give what I can financially, time-wise and attention-wise. I NEVER leave someone hanging, nor waste their time. NEVER.
When this happens to me, it is something that not only upsets me, but you can guarantee that the next time you need my help, I won't be available. Life is too short and too many people need a hand.

When you find that there are people in your life who do not keep their word, who ask you to do something requiring time, money, or energy, and then say "never mind", then do not ever promise that person help again. They will not change, the same scenario will play out. When you are on the other side of things, make it easy for people to assist you , and accept help gracefully. A friend yesterday who was in a similar situation said he told the person who was jerking him around, "beggars can't be choosers" and he felt badly about saying that. I told him, not to feel bad, that and MORE was warranted. The old saying means, if you want help, accept the help, don't make demands and order people around, tell them how to do what they are doing, and claim the help isn't good enough.

I have seen so many people act poorly over the last several days, I am trying to chalk it up to something energetic.  I don't know though...I think people just aren't as "stand up" as they used to be. I think we live in a world of "instant gratification", and that dictates how people react.

I spent the last several months preparing to help a friend, who now says..."never mind", and there is a similar situation on the burner. There is the man I spoke to yesterday who is being told how to do what he is skilled at, by a person who needs help and doesn't have a clue. There is a female friend who wrote to me about a project that was cancelled, and the people didn't bother to tell her. She was still working on it.

My time is precious. My husband's time is also. Everyone's time is precious, it is something that you can NEVER get back. When people are doing something the right way, the way they have been taught, trained, or instructed, don't tell them it isn't good enough, or that they have to do it your way. Don't insult people like that, nor take away their free will and force them into your mold. Take people as they are, teach if need be, but don't try to make them be in your same mold. If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

There is much to accomplish in this world, both in the practical world and in the spiritual world.
Get things done. Get them done well, and make sure that while doing so , you waste no one's precious time.

Make sure that you can depend on the person you are working with. When they show they are undependable, don't help/work with them anymore. Don't waste anyone's time, and don't allow them to waste yours.

Do the right things for the right reasons!
