Books

People are always writing asking, "What book should I read for_____"?
The blank is filled by many things metaphysical, and some not. I am a voracious reader. I LOVE books...There are MANY books on these subjects, but these are good to get started. Here are a couple of suggestions I have made lately:

Little daily positive focus statements:
Messages from the Universe- Mike Dooley

Parapsychology:
It is old, but still a great book to read, then read more current info:
ESP, Hauntings and Poltergeists- Loyd Auerbach

Reiki:
Reiki a Comprehensive Guide- Pamela Miles

Reincarnation:
Life Beyond- Hans Holzer

Tarot History:
Encyclopedia of Tarot- Stuart R Kaplan (there are several volumes)

Tarot card definitions:
The Tarot Directory- Annie Lionnet
The Tarot - Cynthia Giles

Crystals:
The Crystal Bible Vol 1 & 2- Judy Hall

Metaphysical explained by String Theory or other scientific means-
The Field- Lynne Mc Taggart
Psychology and the Occult- C Jung
Jung The Mystic-Gary Lachman

Your guides, helpers, etc.
Spirit Allies- Christopher Penczak

Focusing on the now, not worrying-
The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle

Science/metaphysics of the afterlife:
Spook- Mary Roach

These are just ones to start with, if you read all of these you will have a great basis for what goes on, however I would also recommend reading books from other cultures like the Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Tao Te Ching, Bhagavad Gita, etc. When you try to operate from any one specific viewpoint whether Christianity, Judaism, etc., you miss much, this also pertains to Native American spirituality, you need to really see things from a whole different perspective to understand it well. That doesn't mean feeling sorry for the Native Americans, it means seeing things from their viewpoint, which in many times is VERY hard for non- Natives.

There is a whole world out there, and books open the door to it.

One more thing to toss in on the mundane side.

Mysteries with a little humorous twist:
Read the series by Martha Grimes featuring Richard Jury.

When you want to learn a bit of the Navajo culture while reading crime novels:
Read Tony Hillerman's books with Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee.

Then there is the King, Stephen King. He is one of the best story tellers out there..actually THE best. When horror isn't your thing, he has other books to tantalize you. The Dark Tower series for science fiction lovers, or books like ,The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Under The Dome, The Green Mile or Lisey's Story. They are about people and situations far out of the ordinary, but still in the here and now of this world.

Read...learn and grow!
