Ghost Walking

Tonight is our first scheduled ghost walk of 2011, as long as it doesn't rain that is.Some people ask questions that are hard to answer. Not paranormal questions, those are pretty easy, but questions like, "will I see something?". Well, I don't know.

First of all, you have to be watching VERY carefully. Things out there in the cemetery usually don't walk up dressed in neon and shake your hand. Many just flit around from stone to stone in the dark. Black shadow people are the hardest to see.You have to be paying attention, not chatting with a friend, or looking at your feet because you are afraid at what you might see.

You have to be totally open and receptive. This way you won't dismiss something as the wind or a rustling branch when it isn't. Some people are skeptical and others have backgrounds that make it hard for them to see something. When you had an upbringing that these things don't exist (especially in a very religious household), or that they were bad or evil, it will be hard for your mind to accept what it sees as a spirit.

Some think it is disrespectful. There is no disrespect in saying "Hello, just passing through, anyone want to say hello?" Not all spirits hang around, the ones that do , hang around for a few reasons, but one reason is wanting human contact. Those who are firmly on the other side and don't care what the living are doing, don't even know we are there.

Then there are the orbs. Digital cameras are famous for taking pictures of "orbs", better known as dust, water vapor, and pollen. People call them angels (they are not angels, that's like saying a snail looks just like a bus),spirits, and all other manner of things. They are energy. Pure and simple. The two most popular theories are that this energy is believed to be either transporting many souls , sort of like mass transit, or a single powerful soul.I like a third option, an entity we don't have a characterization for yet.

Orbs, real ones anyway, give off their own light. They show up well where there is zero light, so if you don't use a flash, yet there is window light, sunlight, candle light, ANY LIGHT,you can get fake orbs in your pictures. If you don't use a flash, yet still see people, furniture and what not in your photo, you have enough light for fake orbs. There are also other technical causes of so called orbs. A good proof is that you can see orb light reflecting off of other things. You also see orbs with the naked eye many times. The sad fact is that most times (I would say 99%,) of what people say are orbs in their pictures, are not orbs at all.

I have pictures of red dots of light, they almost look like far away tail lights that are orbs. Orbs can be of several colors. I have seen red , blue and green ones.

So, the "will I see anything" question is a hard one to answer.

My favorite evidence is EVPs, we have asked names and received them on numerous occasions. We have had a "lady" tell us "I am so cold". Then there are the deep sighs, grunts, and other noises. Many times we get children's voices. Many times you investigate and don't know that you have met a ghost til you get home and turn on your recorder.

The other thing that sometimes happens is touch. There have been spirits that like to play with hair, touch, push, pinch, and pull on clothing. No one has been hurt by any of them in our group. They can make you dizzy, nauseous, hot or cold though.

Add to that creepy feelings, dead batteries, and freezing cold when it is 60 degrees outside, and you have met up with something, that for lack of a better word, we will call a ghost.

Sometimes we get a lot of evidence, sometimes we get none. Sometimes deer snort and send us jumping three feet into the air. But at the end of the night it is always , at least, a nice walk in the fresh air with like minded friends!

Nothing that "goes bump in the night" has harmed me ever, and I have lived in two (lucky me), very haunted houses. Some night take some brave friends and go out and explore, you may be surprised at what you discover!

Have a great weekend.
